My first time serving as a juror today, a lady in the jury fell asleep and entire jury was dismissed

I was selected to sit in the jury for this criminal case. It's my first time being selected, I was kinda excited and it would be a great experience. However, about 1 hour into the trial, this lady fell asleep and started snoring loudly.

The judge sent us all into the jury room and about 15 minutes later, we were told that they would have to start over again tomorrow with a completely different jury... it's such a waste of everyone's time.

a loud noise brings me back and two minutes later we are told to go deliberate... I didn't even know any details.. I told them that, admitted to falling asleep, they still expected me to make my decision, was pretty messed up.

Ryan1869. Seems like you keep going with an alternate, that's why they're there. Where I live that would be at least a 2-3 month delay to start over, unless another trial was cancelled.

Made_In_ Why did they not just kick her out and appoint one of the alternates? Every jury has alternates, for reasons such as this.

Informal_High... Prosecutor here and I just want to say that I know jury duty is annoying and painful, but I couldn't do my job without y'all showing up, so l REALLY appreciate those of you who come. You all make my job possible and I thank you♥.

the second plane hit the other tower, shortly after they dismissed everyone. I haven't been selected again for jury duty and wonder if I ever will. Sadly missed on completing my civic duty but will never forget that experience.
